Part 3: The Filtering System of the Body

Filtering system.jpg 1No discussion about the elimination of waste from the body would be complete without considering the filtering system.  This system is vital to eliminating toxic and harmful substances in the blood.  Included in this process are:

  • The kidneys which remove nitrogenous waste (such as urea and uric acid) from the blood;
  • The spleen which removes worn out red blood cells (lymphocytes);
  • The liver which removes worn red blood cells, as well as, detoxifies the blood;
  • The lymphatic system which filters out organisms that cause disease as it filters the blood and body fluids.

All of the Elimination systems have a BIG job to do!

These processes take a tremendous amount of energy.  This will be the focus of the next section…
