6: Fat Flush Exercise Plan

If the liver is the body’s filter, the lymphatic channels are its drainage system. Most of us are familiar with the cardiovascular system and its role in our well-being, but the lymphatic system needs to get a better press agent!  Improving the health of the lymphatic system is the cornerstone of the Fat Flush Fitness plan. Unlike blood which is pumped by the heart, lymphatic fluid has no pump.  Instead, what moves the lymph through its many ducts and channels is exercise.

Our lymph moves through a complex network of needle-thin tubes known as lymphatics, collecting excess fluid from cells all over the body.  Different body parts produce different types of lymph.  Fat is the only food element that moves through the lymphatic system. The proteins and carbohydrates go right from the intestines into the bloodstream, but the intestinal lymphatics draw fat into the lymphatic system before it reaches the blood. When the lymph isn’t flowing properly, the excess fluid that isn’t draining from our tissues causes them to swell. These bloated, water logged tissues can add up to 10 to 15 pounds to your weight, and can cause you to swell two extra dress sizes!

Your goal in phase 1 is to walk briskly for twenty minutes a day, five days a week. If you can’t walk for 20 minutes then start with a brisk 5, 10, or 15 minutes and work up to 20. Just make sure you walk briskly five days a week. An alternative is to rebound for 20 minutes. This is followed by cool down stretches.
